leaf2 Nature Conservation Activities
TaKaRa's Nature Conservation Activities Go Beyond Donations.

TaKaRa began to engage in nature conservation activities in 1979, when it supported the citizens' movement to restore salmon to the Toyohira River in Hokkaido. Beginning as a partnership with a citizens' group, this campaign led to the launching of appeals on product packages and to the donation of advertising space to the group, contributions that took on a totally new dimension for corporate involvement at the time. The "Come Back, Salmon!" movement spread to other regions of Japan, and eventually as far as Canada's Frazer River, across the Pacific in 1981. Since these beginnings in the 1970s, TaKaRa has been involved in a great variety of other nature conservation activities. It established the TaKaRa Harmonist Fund (with an endowment of 300 million yen) when TaKaRa celebrated its 60th anniversary in 1985. TaKaRa's nature conservation movement support is always carried out through close cooperation with local communities. As water is so important for the distilling industry, we intend to continue to support efforts to keep our environment green and our water clean.
