“Thirty-five participants in five teams received the training on the theme of ‘What we can do to improve Takara Shuzo’s business results.’ Our team discussed the PDCA cycle to make sure consumers understood the taste of TaKaRa Can Chu-Hi lemon and presented our conclusion to the management, including President Omiya.
Popular canned CHU-HI, a canned light alcoholic refresher, is in fact a long-selling product that Takara first commercialized in Japan in 1984. Through this training I learned the importance of the following point: firstly, the importance of differentiating from similar products of other makers, secondly the importance of consumers’ perspectives; and thirdly, that we must positively take further steps to put the first two points into practice. I hope that I will be able to make use of this valuable experience in my future career as a sales person.”

Took child-care leave in fiscal 2006

“Striking a balance between work and family life has become a public concern. What is the most important for those who take child-care leave is to gain the understanding of their co-workers. The child-care leave system depends on such support as follow-ups during the leave. Although there are still many employees that hesitate to take child-care leave, the company tries to further improve this system for the development of the next generation.
Very few male workers have actually taken child-care leave. I hope Takara Shuzo will become a more worker-friendly workplace where child-care leave is a common system for both male and female employees.”

“I am quite satisfied with the company’s welfare programs. After I joined the company and was assigned to the Condiment Division a year ago, I gained weight because there was a lot of tasting in my work and had little time for exercise. Utilizing the company’s cafeteria plan I go to gym to refresh my body and mind.
I chose a plan to pay charges every time to continue exercise and I still go to the gym. I am also happy with the company’s efforts to respond to requests from employees to improve the system every year.”

“The Biology Club of Yamaguchi prefectural Asa High School has continued to research the ecology of killifish for 12 years now. In fiscal 2006 we focused on the genetic contamination of wild killifish by bred killifish released in the river. The research showed that bred killifish and wild killifish cross randomly and their eggs grow without problem; there is a habitat where bred killifish are mixed with wild killifish; and there are individuals of wild killifish with genes of bred killifish. We presented our research results at the poster session for high school students at the 77th annual meeting of the Zoological Society of Japan and JSEC 2006 to heighten awareness of people on this theme. Our club also received the Japan Science and Technology Agency Award at the fourth Japan Science Engineering Challenge –for high school students (JSEC 2006). I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for Takara Shuzo’s support for our activities.”
