We strive to use a minimal amount of paper and to use recycled products by means of our Eco Office Campaign and other activities. As with electricity consumption, we regard paper consumption as an indicator of our employees’ commitment to the ECO campaign.

→ In spite of a reduction of 3%, we failed to achieve the target.

Development of environmentally friendly products

Developed two products that are environmentally friendly
Product specifications set the direction of our initiatives toward environmental preservation. Takara Shuzo hopes to reduce the environmental impact of our products, even after they have been sold, by developing and selling environmentally friendly products.

→ We developed and released two environmentally friendly products including Sho-Chiku-Bai “Gokai” (Honjozo) using an all-plastic inner taps (see page 22).

Bulk sale system was introduced at 10 retailers
Increased sales of environmentally friendly products will lower the environmental burden. Takara Shuzo is trying to reduce the number of containers in circulation by increasing the number of retailers that offer bulk sales.

→ We successfully introduced bulk sales at 10 retailers nationwide.

Improving the ratio of low-emission vehicles used for sales

Raising the ratio of low-emission vehicles to 70% or more

The ratio of low-emission vehicles rose to 80%
We have a large fleet of vehicles used for sales, production and distribution that emit large quantities of CO2 and other air pollutants. We strive to improve the ratio of low-emission vehicles in our fleet by introducing fuel-efficient vehicles to reduce the environmental burden.

→ We achieved the targeted introduction ratio of low-emission vehicles, which is 80%, by replacing existing cars at our sales branches with new ones. In our daily operations, every employee using a vehicle for sales drives keeping energy-saving methods in mind.

We believe that providing our “Green-Ink” Corporate Report to as many people as possible will help consumers understand our environmental efforts better.

→ The number of copies distributed exceeded our target substantially, such as at environmental events like Ecoproducts 2006.
