Creating a Worker-Friendly Workplace from the Standpoint of Employees

To help our employees strike a balance between their working and personal lives, Takara Shuzo offers various employee benefit plans, so that employees can work without personal issues distracting them.

Employment Situation

As of March 31, 2007, Takara Shuzo had 1,357 staff (see the breakdown at right). As of April 1, 2007, people with disabilities made up 1.94% of Takara Shuzo’s staff, more than the legal requirement of 1.8%. Since April 1, 2005, the senior partner (re-employment) system has been in place for retired workers who wish to continue working.

Breakdown of staff
Number (composition ratio) Number of managerial-level staff (composition ratio)
Male 1,198 (88.3%) 264 (98.1%)
Female 159 (11.7%) 5 (1.9%)
Total 1,357 269

Holiday and Paid Leave System

Employees have 124 days off annually (weekends; five day working weeks) and are given 10 days of paid leave when joining the company. Paid leave increases to 20 days at maximum, depending on the length of service. Paid leave unused for two years can be accumulated to a maximum of 40 days, which can be used for sick leave, caring of family members or study leave. Employees also have at least one consecutive 10-day refresher vacation once every five years from the ages of 25 to 55 years. Every workplace sets a No Overtime Day once a week, to reduce overtime.

Support for Employees to Balance Work and Family Time

Takara Shuzo has endeavored to establish a system that allows employees to fulfill their potential by providing them with a working environment in which they can easily balance work and family.

Specifically employees are granted the following leave:
Child-care leave
Nursing-care leave
Infant care leave
Leave for pregnancy and infant check-ups

To comply with the Law for Measures to Support the Development of the Next Generation that came into force in July 2003, Takara Shuzo introduced a leave system for fathers (may take time on arrival of a newborn) and a registration system for re-employment for retiring workers due to personal reasons including marriage, childbirth, child-care, nursing and the transfer of spouses on April 1, 2007.
We also encourage and support male employees to take child-care leave.
