Sound Labor Relations

Takara Shuzo and the TaKaRa Labor Union have established a healthy labor-management relationship based on mutual trust. At the labor-management conferences and special committees between labor and management, information on management is provided and labor conditions are discussed.

Creating a Workplace Where Employees’ Safety and Health are Assured

Efforts to Control Occupational Safety and Health—Achieving Zero Labor Accidents-

In order to improve the working environment and to ensure employees’ safety, we have established an occupational safety and health committee to raise employees’ intuition and awareness of danger. At factories, based on the “Occupational Safety and Health Management System,” potential risks and facilities where danger is lurking are identified. By doing this, we endeavor to prevent accidents.
In fiscal 2006 there were three work-related injuries resulting in absence from work. In addition to identifying the reasons for the accidents and taking preventive measures, we will make all-out attempts to achieve a zero accident rating.

Frequency of Worker Injuries Resulting in Absence from Work
All Industries Food and Tobacco Industry Takara Shuzo
FY 2004 1.85 2.86 0.83
FY 2005 1.95 2.86 1.60
FY 2006 - - 2.40

Activities to Improve Labor Conditions and Provide Job Satisfaction

“The Takara Labor Union is developing methods to improve working conditions such as wages and working hours and to enhance conditions in the workplace so that employees experience job satisfaction, based on healthy and cooperative labor-management relations. After consulting with union members in meetings facilitated by the executive office, we actively recommend any necessary measures to management. Our goals are healthy development of the company and the improvement of working conditions, including employee job satisfaction. Recently, labor and management got together to address mental health problems. By supporting actions taken by the company and the health insurance association, we are attempting to raise employee awareness of mental health issues.”
