Procurement of raw materials

To ensure a supply of safe and delicious products, Takara Shuzo selects reliable suppliers of raw materials and procures only materials whose quality, safety, legality can be assured. For each material, we require a warranty letter to confirm safety and manage information on the materials’ origins, production areas and other important factors by means of database.
The detailed data concerning raw materials has been integrated into an information management system, along with design data such as recipes. The system is searchable by product and helps us to respond quickly to inquiries from customers and business partners.

Manufacturing

All of Takara’s factories are now certified as compliant with the ISO 9001 quality management system and actively strive to reinforce infrastructure for quality assurance.
From the acceptance of materials to shipment, only goods that have passed quality testing will proceed to the next processing level and be shipped after final inspection. We do all we can to assure product safety and stable quality by inspecting materials for foreign matter and printing with an automatic inspection system. Visual and sensory tests by inspection staff and component analysis by means of the latest analyzers are also carried out.

Printing inspection
Use-by dates printed on labels of all of the Takara Hon-Mirin PET products are inspected by cameras.

Visual test
For Sho-Chiku-Bai glass cup products, inspectors conduct sight tests for leaks and flaws as the containers are rotated by a testing machine.

Takara’s effort in Shaoxingjiu wine products

For more than 30 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations between Japan and Chine in 1972, Takara Shuzo has imported the finest-quality Pagoda export brand of Shaoxingjiu wine from China.
The Pagoda brand is one of very few brands that employs traditional manufacturing methods using quality glutinous rice and the famed water of Lake Kanko*1. Moreover, to assure safety of raw materials, Takara directly obtains samples of the raw materials and analyzes them at test laboratories in Japan, in addition to confirming safety by quality certification.
We also have confirmed conformity to the requirements of the Positive List System for Agricultural Chemical Residues in Food*2 that entered into force last year.

*1 Lake Kanko: A lake located in Shaoxing, Zhejing, the home of Shaoxingjiu. The water of the lake contains fewer organic constituents and is suitable for liquor production. The lake also has a mass of mineral matter, limestone layers, and chlorites which serve as natural filters for purified water.

*2 Positive List System for Agricultural Chemical Residues in Food
The System bans, in principle, the sale of foods containing more than a certain amount of residual agricultural chemicals for which no standard has been set.
