Basic Management Policies
The business activities of the Takara Group are based on fermentation technologies, which use the gifts of nature in the form of grain, water, microorganisms and advanced biotechnologies. The Takara Group is determined to maintain harmony with nature, society and humanity by providing products and services that reflect its gratitude for the blessings of nature and its primary commitment to applying these technologies for the benefit of consumers.
In May 2000, the Takara Group announced Takara Evolution 100 (TE-100), a long-term management plan. TE-100 calls for business activities that emphasize three fundamental perspectives based on the philosophy of the Takara Group: identification with consumer perspectives, respect for human beings, and harmony with nature and society. The management goal defined in TE-100 is to improve the corporate value of the Takara Group.
Corporate Governance
The Takara Group was transformed into a holding company system on April 1, 2002. Takara Shuzo Co., Ltd., Takara Bio Inc. and 27 other subsidiaries conduct business operations under the umbrella of Takara Holdings Inc. The basic concept of corporate governance under the holding company system is as follows:
* For the enhancement of corporate value of the Takara Group as a whole.
(1) We will engage in speedier business operations based on a self-supporting system, by delegating authority to each group company.
(2) We will maintain a corporate culture that facilitates exchange of opinions on business reporting, future management policies and business strategies, by holding regular meetings.
(3) We will fulfill our social responsibilities as a Group by ensuring observance of laws and social ethics and by maintaining compliance and risk management systems.
(4) We will improve the transparency of management by continuing open, timely and accurate information disclosure and maintaining in-house systems that assure timely disclosure.
