Equal Emphasis on Sociality and Economic Efficiency for Enhancing Corporate Value
I place great value on this reports editorial policies of incorporating first-hand the opinions of employees, business partners and various other stakeholders and of describing the companys specific environmental and social activities.
Takara Shuzo has corporate values that it has relied upon since the establishment of its business. To develop these values even further, it is necessary to regard CSR not as a cost but as an investment, and to place CSR at the center of the management strategy. I believe that the stable management of the company and the trust that society places in the company will be enhanced by devising approaches in line with this management strategy while constantly pursuing sociality and implementing social activities in a more specific way through concerted efforts by the company.
I admit that it is meaningful to report specifically how Takara Shuzo succeeded in enhancing corporate value and what measures will it take to increase this value in the future. However, it will facilitate in increasing the reliability of the report to openly disclose what has not been achieved and why it has not been achieved. |

Seeking cooperation with local NPOs
From my standpoint of an organization supporting NPOs in Kyoto, I expect Takara Shuzo as a leading company in its field to make its social contribution in cooperation with local NPOs and NGOs. The companys activities will be more broad-based and unique if the company starts its activities locally, such as opening some of the facilities at its plants to the public to use for charity sales and music practice. I expect the report to cover internal arrangements and systems for participation in volunteer activities in detail.
I sense an increased awareness of CSR in this report. However, I think that transparency in the company will improve when the report clearly specifies actual results compared with numerical targets and discloses all information, including information that the company is reluctant to disclose. From a global standpoint, employment and labor situations at its overseas subsidiaries should be reported in the same manner as in Japan. |

Should aim to be a global company making full use of the uniqueness of Kyoto
The significance of Takara Shuzos Green-Ink Accounting is that parameters that are difficult to be measured in numerical terms have been expressed numerically. I believe that the method can be used as a standard environmental indicator for companies not only in Japan, but also in the rest of the world. This report has also covered the essential categories and I have the impression that the company is implementing well-balanced corporate activities.
From the viewpoint of a company located in Kyoto, I hope that Takara Shuzo undertake more community-based activities. Obtaining the trust of the community will lead to trust in the global market.
To continue to be a trustworthy company, it is important that each employee continues to be involved in steady economic, environmental and social activities based on the companys management policy. It is important for the company to disclose accurate information on their employees activities. |
