For a Society with “iki-iki”(happiness and health)

The Harmonist – Promoting Social Contributions and Volunteer Activities

Takara Shuzo has created the concept of the “harmonist.” The term represents someone who promotes harmony, and signifies our determination to create better relationships between nature, people and society. To these ends, we are involved in various social contributions and volunteer activities.

“TaKaRa Harmonist Fund” to Exceed 100 Million Yen

Aid fund presentation ceremony held at the Main Office

In 1985, on the 60th anniversary of its founding, Takara established their TaKaRa Harmonist Fund, a public trust. Every year since then, the Fund has extended aid to organizations and individuals that undertake activities that preserve forests and natural waterside environments in Japan, and to research into protecting living organisms. Fiscal 2004 marked the 19th year of the Fund, which has contributed a total of 100.25 million yen to 208 projects.

In fiscal 2004, the circle of the Fund’s environmental preservation activities expanded even further: an elementary school was selected to receive a grant for the first time; and organizations in Oita, Fukui and Miyazaki prefectures received subsidies for the first time. Beginning with this year, individual employees can support natural conservation activities by contributing points to the Harmonist Fund from within the points benefit package system.
