“Think Health” of Our Customers in Mind

In the soft drinks category, based on the theme of “Think Health,” Takara Shuzo offers products that take advantage of its own advanced technologies to respond to our customers’ health and safety needs. We also caution against drinking by minors, pregnant women and drivers and call for appropriate drinking habits and behavior to avoid any effects on health for our customers from unrestrained drinking.


Taking Advantage of Natural Materials

“Eating” is the basis of a healthy and happy daily life. Under its “Think Health” slogan, Takara Shuzo offers delicious and easy-to-take products manufactured from selected natural materials without reducing the efficacy or ingredients of the materials. We also endeavor to proactively develop specified health foods*, and to use clear descriptions on labels so that customers can find its effectiveness easily and accurately.

*Specified health foods: Foods approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as containing ingredients that are useful in maintaining health, based on scientific testing, and permitted by the Ministry to carry a health label (statement demonstrating its use in maintaining health) on products.

“Calcium Parlor” --- Specified Health Food

Takara Shuzo has developed the “Parlor” series of health beverages from which users can get nutrients that tend to be in short supply in the Japanese diet. “Calcium Parlor,” launched after “Vitamin Parlor,” the first product in the series, became the first calcium drink to be approved as a “specified health food” in 1993.

Supporting Self-Medication with Our Beverages

Considering the aging society with fewer children, the increased burden of medical expenses and other situations in Japanese society at the present, we realize that we are responsible for protecting our own health. In response to this trend toward self- medication, since 2000 we have been selling healthy vinegar beverages such as Kurozu Vermont in the “SELF CARE” series. By adding fruit juice to vinegar and green juice, which are known to be a health food, our SELF CARE products are tasty and drinkable. With the ability to supplement vitamin intake and reduce weight, our health beverages support the diets and health of our customers.

We also have developed “Tencha Plus Shiso”, a functional beverage that helps with pollen allergies, in an effort to respond to seasonal needs. In addition to the functions and quality of the product, we have introduced simple markings on the bottle so that consumers can use the beverage effectively. We have marked a scale on the bottle to show the approximate amount of one dose.



Offering New Health Products Through Our Ingenious Technological Edge

To respond quickly to customers’ health-conscious requirements, Takara came up with “Takara Barbican” with an alcohol content of less than 0.1%,in 1986. With a taste like beer, Takara set a new style of drink and Barbican has become popular. In 2004, Takara launched a new version, Takara Barbican “Real Taste,” to meet weight-watchers’ needs for a low-calorie drink.

We have also introduced our “Balance-Plus” series for Takara Can Chu-Hi. Sugars and calories have been drastically reduced and ingredients such as amino acid, minerals and dietary fibers have been added. Takara will strive to develop function-added products with its innovative technologies, using selected quality raw materials.
