Our recycling rates for FY 1999 increased from FY 1997, contributing greatly to the improved Environmental Impact Reduction Green Ink indicator. The largest improvements over 1998 figures were in recycling rates for sludge and ceramic wastes, accomplished through promotion of separation and recycling at each factory, as required for ISO 14001 certification. We will continue efforts to reduce total wastes to less than 10,000 tons annually and to achieve a 100% recycle rate by 2002.
